USS Kearsarge by shank117 USS Kearsarge by shank117
A drawing I did on a very small sheet of water color paper I have been eying other deviants work and have been trying to learn some of their advanced style and start trying to advance my own and play with real India ink. I wasn't going to post it up but I figured some may like it. BB-8 USS Kearsarge very early 1900s.

Pre-Dreadnaughts! Nice use of shading and tone.

Very good sense of action and ferocious movement.  She was the longest-lived of all her sisters. That freaky turret arrangement proved that you COULD superimpose without capsizing.

It was my first try at a ship illustration. I glad it came out better than I thought. Thank you.

The ships of the 1890s had a ferocity of appearance that you could find other good subjects to draw.  My personal favorite is 'McKinley's Bulldog,' the mighty U.S.S.  Oregon.  She cruised 'round the horn and arrived in condition and time enough to play a major part in the Battle of Santiago.

She was heavily photographed, so you shouldn't lack for reference material.   I once gamed her fighting a German fleet trying to grab the Philippines. She waddled up to each German ship and destroyed it in turn.

Nicely done. Spent quite a few years at sea myself, always enjoy seeing a well done nautical work.

Looks like cold press watercolor paper.  From time to time when I use cold press, I use the back because some brands have less tooth on the back side
and I don't want all that grain effect.  You might give it a try and see if you like it.

This looks awesome.

You can draw better than I can. Especially on boats.

Well done. :D
